Fundamentals of Nursing Lab

The Fundamentals of Nursing lab accommodates essential equipment and supplies with an adequate number of practice Maniquins. The lab mimics the hospital setting and adds to sufficient “hands on learning” from the very basic. The lab is instrumental in ensuring every students success. Fundamental Nursing lab is the practical area of nursing students where they perform all nursing procedures prior to the exposure to the clinical field. The spacious independent laboratory is well equipped with patient simulator, Maniquins, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation maniquins, models, equipments and instruments. It is combined with simulation maniquins.

Pediatric Nursing Lab

In the Paediatric lab, students have an opportunity to demonstrate basic skills necessary to take care of pediatric patients. It also includes baby Maniquins to practice nursing procedures, growth charts and immunization. Students get opportunity to practice Resuscitation procedures in babies before they go to the clinical area.

Community Health Nursing Lab

Community Health Lab is equipped with latest articles and equipments to practice bag technique, prepare materials required for health education, school health programme, health camps, exhibition and projects. Students are given intensive training in the basic village health survey, identification of health problems and interventions. Priority is given to prevention of disease & promotion of health through health awareness programmes, school health programmes Child to child programmes& participation in National health programmes, data analysis, & report presentation with models and A.V. Aids.

OBG Nursing Lab

Department of OBG provides comprehensive knowledge and skills required to work and perform as able midwives in various health care settings. The Obstetric laboratory is designed for students to appreciate the concepts and principles of midwifery and obstetrical nursing. It helps students to acquire knowledge and skills in rendering nursing service to normal and high risk pregnant women to antenatal, natal and postnatal periods in hospital and community settings. This laboratory provide first hand experience in assessment of antenatal case, intranatal case, post natal case, neonatal assessment and demonstration of nursing care and handling problems accordingly. The lab contains Models, manikins, equipments, instruments, obstetrical charts & specimens.

Nutrition Lab

The Nutrition laboratory is well equipped with necessary articles. The students learn to prepare normal and therapeutic diet, to obtain skill in conducting various health educational programmes and demonstrate therapeutic diets.

Computer Lab

Computers are very essential in day to day life for both students and teachers. Computers provide I.T resources needed to promote learning. It enhances class room teaching thorough internet. Computers provide an environment conducive for E-learning and research. Students staff and Faculty members have access to Computer lab which has got internet facilities.

Digital Library

Uninterrupted internet supply is made available with different Broadband. There are 12 systems available for students to utilize. Digital Library provides free, high-quality educational resources to students. This library gives services through RGUHS Helinet.

Library

The main objective of the Library Services is to offer free book reading facilities to all, to grow healthy readership at all levels, to disseminate knowledge on all, subjects and topics to collect and preserve all documents having research value and local importance, to preserve old records, Books for reference and research purpose, to publish bibliographies, to promote Library Service by exhibiting books, arranging popular talks, and seminars. The library at Holy Cross School of Nursing is a store house of knowledge. Abode of more than 3,000 books of current Medical and Nursing publications, also many journals are subscribed regularly. Library help everyone both students and staff to gain new knowledge, skills, and dispositions for learning and personal development that they will use throughout their lives.

Lecture Hall

Holy Cross School of Nursing has spacious and well ventilated classrooms with comfortable seating arrangements. Each classroom is equipped with Black/ White Board, Flannel board and LCD projectors. Uninterrupted power supply gives confidence to both teacher and students that classes will go smoothly without technical issues.

Sports

Our campus has a vast area as play ground. A number of opportunities are provided for the students to develop their skills and talents. Annual sports ay is conducted and students are honoured. Ground is big enough to conduct Field events, foot Ball, Throw Ball, Badminton and several other field events.

Student Nurses’ Association (SNA)

Local unit of SNA is very active here. Annually office bearers are elected and they organize under the supervision of SNA advisor all important days, events, festivals, cultural programmes and Nurses Week competitions. Winners are awarded prizes. The SNA is very active and works hard for the wholesome development of the students through professional, educational and extracurricular activities.

National Day Celebration

Independence day and Republic day is celebrated. For Republic day Students do the parade in batch wise. An organized programme is implemented and display of patriotism is shown by drill, parade and patriotic Dance.

Lamp Lighting Ceremony

Lamp Lighting Ceremony is always conducted along with B.Sc Students. Students are prepared psychologically, spiritually and physically to enter in to Nursing profession officially. Lamp lighting is a beautiful moment for the budding nurses who lighted their lamps with dignity. This ceremony reminds us to go out of our comfort zone and render care to the sick and needy with compassion irrespective of age, gender, color and status.

Transport Facilities

The institute is having buses which provide transportation to students. The School/College has its own transport facilities, including well maintained College buses which operate smoothly. The Nursing School has adequate transport facilities to ensure optimal learning for students in various areas like field visits, community programs Educational visits.

STUDENTS HOSTEL

Madonna Student Hostel is located in the lush green campus of Holy Cross Hospital. Hostel is a home away from home for girls who dream to become a Nurse. Holy Cross School of Nursing strives the overall development of the students along with their studies. It is a privilege to see the students come out of their cocoons and emerge in to confident individuals after they stay in the hostel. They develop leadership qualities in mess management, financial management, keeping hostel in aesthetic way. They learn to appreciate the nutritive value of food as they are involved in mess management. Girls come from different parts of India with different background, stay together and develop the bond of love and care. Festivals are celebrated with pomp and enthusiasm giving importance to different culture. Girls in hostel enjoy freedom but at the same time learn to live their life in a disciplined manner. Day to day activities are supervised by the Warden who stays full time there.

Students are encouraged to manage all aspects of their hostels, under the guidance of the warden. This includes managing budgets for the mess and various activities and projects as well as organizing events of the School at Hostel with special food. Hostel offers comfortable stay for students during the course of study. The hostel is clean and comfortable and provided with adequate facilities. Hostel has got spacious dining hall with modern kitchen facility. Vegetarian and non vegetarian diet is prepared hygienically and served aesthetically.

Spiritual Direction

Being a Catholic Institution, the Christian students are given special attention and help in their spiritual journey. Regular Holy Mass, Rosary and prayers are conducted in- house as integral part of the formation. However students of other faith are encouraged to express their religion and appropriate help is given to them when needed.
